Why Uniforms?

Wearing uniforms has been a method of the Scouting movement from the beginning. Decades of experience show uniforming to have many benefits, including these:

  • Equality. The uniform represents a democratic ideal of equality. Children from various cultures and different economic levels wear the same uniform and cooperate as equals.
  • Identification. The uniform identifies a child as a member of the Cub Scouts. Badges on the uniform tell other members that they belongs to their den, pack, and council. The uniform itself identifies a good citizen to the entire community.
  • Achievement. The uniform displays badges and other awards so the accomplishments of each Cub Scout can be immediately recognized.
  • Commitment. Wearing a uniform is a constant reminder to each Cub Scout of their commitment to the ideals and purposes of Cub Scouting: duty to God, loyalty to country, and helpfulness to others.

For these reasons, among others, all parents should emphasize to their Scouts the importance of wearing the correct and complete uniform on all suitable occasions

CLASS A Uniform

BRAg vest - Optional

As you continue your cub scout journey you will acquire patches for different pack events you attend and participate in, or adventures you have completed .  Many scouts choose to wear them proudly on a red felt vest which can be worn over the class A uniform.  You can purchase a blank vest from the Scout Store in person or online, or search for a pattern online and make one yourself.  The patches can be ironed and/or sewn on in whatever position you want.

Pack 177 loves our fun patches, so the more you participate in the more you will have.

CLASS B Uniform - optional (or plain clothes)

Pack 177 has an assortment of CLASS B uniform items available for purchase throughout the year.  These are typically worn during more active, outdoor activities where a more comfortable and casual clothing option is preferred. Our shirts/sweatshirts typically stand out due to the blue, white and yellow tie dye design.

Pack 177 Families can order Class B uniform items HERE

If you do not have any pack CLASS B items, wearing plain clothes is fine.
